Paraphrased:
As a result of Adam's transgression human nature was corrupted, and pleasures of the flesh ruled over our understanding. Consequently it was vital for our salvation that the Word of God make sensually-infected human flesh his own, so he could infuse it with divine Life, in this way curbing the innate, sensual impulses of the flesh. These innate impulses are referred to as as the law of sin by the blessed Paul (Rom. 7:23, Rom. 8:2). In Christ's flesh the law of sin was destroyed (cf. Rom. 8:3).
